- Europe has enjoyed 70 years of peace, thanks largely to the success of the European Union
- We should not even be considering leaving the European Union if we value lasting peace and prosperity.
- The European Union can be improved - but for that, we need to be negotiating inside the EU - not outside the EU.
- We all need to reflect on exactly how and why this referendum was set up and what the result really means.
- Many of the 52% may have been making a protest vote against austerity (cuts to public services and welfare) or because they felt disenfranchised / neglected by the UK government.
- Since Friday 24th June 2016, the United Kingdom is in a very dark place...
- ...with no credible plan and political chaos
- Vote Leave pledges have been exposed as lies / deception
- We urgently need some thorough post-referendum opinion polls to shine some light on current views of the British public, now that we have had an ugly preview of Brexit and the damage it causes to the economy, to society and to the credibility of the United Kingdom within Europe and the world.
- We need to rebuild our bridges:
- To rebuild our communities and stamp out racism
- To heal the divisions within our United Kingdom, both across the regions and between the younger and older generations
- To rebuild our credibility and relationship with partners in the European Union
- To rebuild public trust in politics
